Mummification is the preservation of a body. For centuries mummification was a wonderful and great privilege enjoyed by the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. Egyptians believed in the life after death and that preserving the body after death was important to keep their soul alive. In ancient Egypt mummification was an operation and a religious rite. In this papyrus painting we can see the operation of mummification performed by Anubis who is holding the died person and around him some people participating in the ceremony.
